The next BIGDHRC General Meeting is Tuesday September 7 2010.  Our program this month TBD. Our monthly business meeting, we will discuss our upcoming Hunt Test in September, along with training days, the Bass Pro dog demo, and other general items. Hope to see everyone there! 

What you can expect from Big D
A positive, stable club that encourages family involvement in the training and development of the hunting instinct of their hunting retriever companions.

Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at Golden Corral at 6:30 pm. Location is east of Webb Chapel Road, 3312 Forest Lane, Dallas, TX 75234.  From 635, take the Webb Chapel Road exit and go south and take left on Forest Lane. Golden Corral is on the right 1/2 mile for a map and/or driving directions: click here  

We begin the meetings promptly at 6:30 PM and offer guest speakers on topics of interest from time to time.

What Big D Expects of Our Members
Beyond attendance of meetings and events, active involvement in the activities and responsibilities of the club through the member’s volunteer efforts. It is a goal of the Big D HRC to be the best hunting retriever club possible. This is only achieved through the efforts of each individual member of our club. Big D HRC has many opportunities where we need your help. Begin your membership in our club by volunteering to serve in one of the following areas:

  • Training days
  • Training grounds maintenance
  • Spring and fall hunt tests
  • Quarterly technical programs
  • Parties and social events
  • Administration
  • Equipment inventory and maintenance
  • As a new member, your membership sponsor can provide you with specific information regarding these areas. 

    Hunting Retriever Club/United Kennel Club and You
    Big D HRC was originally chartered as a member club of the Hunting Retriever Club (HRC) division of the United Kennel Club. Today, our club holds a dual charter with both UKC (HRC) and also the American Kennel Club (AKC). We sponsor club events under each organization. While national membership in HRC is not a prerequisite of joining Big D HRC, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity and join HRC national today. In return for your annual dues of $25 Single or $30 Family for HRC national membership, your benefits from HRC national will include:

  • Annual subscription to “Hunting Retriever” magazine that is published on a Bi-Monthly basis. The magazine offers the following
  • Breeders Corner
  • Training Tips
  • Summary of Hunt Tests (since the last magazine) and the dogs that have passed in those tests.
  • List of dogs that have received a title (since the last magazine). Your dog must be UKC registered to appear on this list.
  • Judges Corner
  • Qualified to receive points toward nationally recognized UKC hunting retriever titles (the dog must be UKC registered)
  • Reduced entry fees in UKC licensed hunt tests
  • Complimentary title certificates as you dog progresses through the stages of hunting retriever development
  • HRC Educational Scholarships – available to any full time student that is a family member of a HRC Member in good standing.

    American Kennel Club
    Outside of your dog being registered with AKC, there is no additional membership requirement to participate and earn points and titles in AKC's Retriever Hunt Tests.
